Lieutenant Caron enjoys a very sad reputation. Captain Marcel Dingeon, Sergeant François Mollet and himself were convicted of the "Abbeville massacre" on May 20, 1940. This Abbeville massacre refers to the shooting of the Kiosk which killed 21 civilians of nationalities Various. They were arrested in Belgium, considered as spies and suspects and arrived in Abbeville on 19 May late in the evening. They had to be allowed to spend the night and were therefore locked up under the music kiosk at the Dubois Gate. On the morning of the 20th of May, before the panic of the German bombardments, Marcel Dingeon gave the order to shoot everybody. 21 will be killed before Lieutenant Jean Leclabart comes to stop the shooting.

Lieutenant Caron and Sergeant Mollet were tried by the Germans and executed at Mont Valérien in 1942. Marcel Dingeon moved to the free zone and committed suicide in 1941.
