Claude Mellan was born in Abbeville in 1598, died in Paris in 1688 (90 years !!). He is the first of a long series of engravers born in Abbeville.
His complete work includes 300 pieces, including portraits, frontispieces (main façade of a building with fore-part and portal), religious boards, etc.
He is best known and recognized for his "Holy Face".
