He was a very important figure in the Abbeville of the 20th century. Born February 20, 1879, he studied at the public school Saint-Jacques (today pullies). At the age of 16, he moved to rue Alfred Cendré (now rue des Lingers) in the bookshop created by his mother. In 1903, he married a daughter of bookseller, Emma Riez, of which he had six children. He is very interested in the life of the city, in the friendly of Commerce, in the S.I., and organized large demonstrations on Abbeville.
In 1913, he was one of the founders of the Co-operative Housing Company (a former HLM), which made it possible for many people to purchase their homes in Abbeville and the borough.
As a social activist and a militant Catholic, he was professionally President of the Chambre syndicale des Libraires de France.
After the liberation of 1944, he formed the Union of the Dead. He was deputy mayor and councilor of the republic (M.R.P.).
Sick, he died in Abbeville on May 30, 1949, leaving the memory of a very strong personality. His son Philippe, perfectly resumed the torch from an abbevilloise point of view as from a parochial point of view.
