Street near the great factory of the Rames, created by Josse Van Robais in 1665 from Middelburg (Holland) in France at the request of Colbert to install the production of fine sheets. It chooses Abbeville to install the Grand Manufacture Royale of Fine Sheets, it consists of the Hotel des Rames, large buildings around it and a dovecote located in the middle of the hangars (see article La Manufacture des Rames) . These still remain and are one of the rare examples of an industrial establishment prior to the Revolution, especially of a "royal" factory. The oars were horizontal poles on which the sheets were stretched so that they had the same size when dried.
