This street does not belong entirely to the commune of Abbeville but is located in the territory of Vauchelles les Quesnoy.
Rose Bertin was born in Abbeville on July 2, 1747, daughter of a police officer and a sick guard. She left Paris at the age of 16 to work as a milliner. In 1770 she opened her own fashion shop "Le grand Mogol" and became close to Queen Marie-Antoinette who made her her fashion minister. She maintains very close relations with her, even advising her to come to Monflières to make the pilgrimage when she has heard of the queen's sterility.
After the death of the decapitated Queen in 1793, and during "Terror", she went into exile in England, returning to France only in 1794. In 1795 she opened another shop in Epinay sur Seine where she took up residence But no longer met the same success. She died there in 1813.
